Walk Across Austin! An Amplify Austin Day Event
March 1st 4:30pm- 8pm
March 1st -March 2nd 2018 Austin will host the annual Amplify Austin Day, a community-wide day of online giving. In celebration of this annual day of local love, Salvage Vanguard Theater (SVT) is taking a Walk Across Austin.
SVT has been creating accessible and diverse new theater all over Austin for the past 22 years. Starting in bars and coffee shops in the 90s, squatting in the The Off Center and Hyde Park Theatre, running our own space for ten years, and now finding home in artist residencies across the city.
In celebration of our past, present, and future work, we invite you to join the SVT squad in a walk across Austin, as we visit our many artistic homes. We are excited to continue to grow our relationships with the Dougherty Arts Center, the Brush Square Museums, and the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. As Artists-in-Residence at these facilities we are finding office and meeting space, rehearsal space, and performance space. In addition to these residencies, in 2017 we launched a residency of our own. This fall SVT launched the SVT Artist House, a space committed to providing affordable residence for long term Austin artists and visiting artists.
Salvage Vanguard’s mission is to create accessible, affordable work, and a thriving artistic exchange between a diverse, inclusive community of artists and audiences. We create high quality experiences, and foster experimentation and conversation. On Amplify Austin Day, SVT is raising money to support the upcoming 2018 programming that is in service of our mission. When you Amplify SVT, your donation helps pay for child care for parent-artists, wellness & trauma-caring workshops for actors, ASL interpreters and audio interpreters, and the development of four exciting new works by women.
You can join the SVT team as we walk across the city, or meet us at any (and all) of the various spaces we call home.
