“But we rise. And keep walking. Somehow…”
From the writer of Fugitive Pieces (winner of three Austin Critic Table Awards in 2002) comes a tale of the displaced, the struggling, of loners looking for love and compassion in dusty, dry, violent surroundings. One woman treks across lands and confronts the darker sides of humanity in times of war.
Scenes from war and after... Songs for broken times. A love story and vaudeville of the far and near country. A young woman walks the fields. A young man trails her. The ghost voices of the fallen rise up in ballads, hymns, blues and swing as if torn from roots of mad sorrow.
Thrush explores the world of the displaced and their constant push for survival. A story of refugees and their journey through destruction, deceit, broken expectations and revelation of inner strength and beauty. Using SVT’s new warehouse space as a site-specific environment, Thrush creates uplifting moments of the unexpected.
